Vehicle fire - man charged

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Street Watch -

A 61-YEAR-OLD Cottesloe man allegedly set alight a latemodel Range Rover in Geraldine Street, Cottesloe about 1.55pm on June 4.

“CCTV of the incident has helped identify the alleged offender,” Senior Sergeant Tony Booker said.

The man and the owners of the vehicle had an argument about their dogs’ noise in August but police would not comment if that incident and the fire were connected.

It will be alleged the vehicle owners saw the man when they left their home a few minutes before 1.55pm on Saturday.

A short time later, they were contacted by neighbours about the fire and came home to see their vehicle in flames.

Firefighters said the fire was accidental but the Range Rover’s owners thought it was suspicious and contacted police.

The man was charged with criminal damage by fire, before he was bailed to reappear at Perth Magistrates Court on June 21.
