Team set to make a big splash in Fiji
FIVE teenagers from Claremontbased West Coast Splash synchronised swimming club will compete in the 2016 Oceania Championships in Fiji from this week.
Jane Fruzynski (15), Michelle Ammon (14), Tamila Andreeva (15), Gabbi Percic (15) and Jessica Eidne (15) will fly to Fiji this week after qualifying for the international event at the Australian National Championships held at HBF Stadium recently.
The team has been swimming together for two years and training more than 17 hours a week, covering an average of 2000 metres per session.
The girls will compete across several categories with routines choreographed by West Coast Splash coach Briana Preiss.
“The opportunity to compete in Fiji and showcase the talent of our athletes is a result of lots of hard work,” Preiss said.
“We were very pleased with the club’s performance at the recent Australian national competition in Perth, but there’s still a lot of work to do.
“After Fiji, four of the girls will go on to compete in Kazan at the Junior World Championships in July.”
Gabbi Percic, Jane Fruzynski, Tamilla Andreeva, Michelle Ammon and Jessica Eidne are heading to Fiji to compete.
