NedlandsYouth Art prize open
WESTERN suburbs young artists are being encouraged to enter the City of Nedlands Emerge: Youth Art Awards 2016, which have just opened.
The awards, which are open to artists aged from 12 to 25, are open to two-dimensional artworks including print, photography, painting and drawing on this year’s theme, ‘Unseen’.
City of Nedlands Mayor Max Hipkins said that he was always impressed with the high standard of artworks on display.
“There are so many talented young artists in our community and it is important that we recognise and support them,” he said.
“This year will mark the fourth year that the City has held the event, with 102 entries received last year, from places as far afield as Broome.”
A prize pool of $2000 will be awarded at the event, with live music, food and giveaways.
Entries close on July 31, with the exhibition being held on Saturday, August 20 at John Leckie Pavilion, College Park.
