Ned­land­sYouth Art prize open

WESTERN sub­urbs young artists are be­ing en­cour­aged to en­ter the City of Ned­lands Emerge: Youth Art Awards 2016, which have just opened.

The awards, which are open to artists aged from 12 to 25, are open to two-di­men­sional art­works in­clud­ing print, photography, paint­ing and draw­ing on this year’s theme, ‘Un­seen’.

City of Ned­lands Mayor Max Hip­kins said that he was al­ways im­pressed with the high stan­dard of art­works on dis­play.

“There are so many tal­ented young artists in our com­mu­nity and it is im­por­tant that we recog­nise and sup­port them,” he said.

“This year will mark the fourth year that the City has held the event, with 102 en­tries re­ceived last year, from places as far afield as Broome.”

A prize pool of $2000 will be awarded at the event, with live mu­sic, food and give­aways.

En­tries close on July 31, with the ex­hi­bi­tion be­ing held on Saturday, Au­gust 20 at John Leckie Pav­il­ion, Col­lege Park.
