A PERTH yoga company has donated more than $350,000 worth of classes to non-profit organisations since 2008.

Based in Maylands, West Perth and Sorrento, The Yoga Space celebrated its teacher training program at the second annual International Yoga Day recently.

Teachers in training donated hours to groups such as those helping refugees, domestic violence survivors, pregnant women in prison, the MS Society, Cancer Council and seniors.

The Yoga Space manager Chloe Trompetter said the school taught basic postures, movements, relaxation techniques and meditation.

“We teach people to connect breath to movement as a stressrelieving mechanism and relaxation techniques to take out into their life,” she said.

The school also taught staff at the Centre for Torture and Trauma Survivors. “We do it for the staff that have incredibly stressful jobs,” Ms Trompetter. The school has also donated funds to girls’ education, mainly in Sierra Leone through the One Girl Foundation.
