Rhys runs show at screen awards

Western Suburbs Weekly - - News -

COMEDIAN Rhys Nicholson had the audience in the palm of his hand as host of the WA Screen Awards last week at the State Theatre Centre of WA.

Those familiar with his routine will recognise some zingers but he had attendees in raptures of laughter with cheeky jokes about having to put a Perth coffee on lay-by and landing in Perth on the weekend to find out about the hung Parliament.

“Coincidentally that was the name of the winner of the WA Porn Awards last week,” he quipped.

Spending most of the awards presentation perched on a classy seat on the stage, Nicholson high-fived winners who walked past him to collect their trophy.

The first six rows were reserved for VIPs, half of whom did not return after the intermission, but those who remained celebrated further at the after-party.
