MND cocktail event
A SUBIACO fundraising event will be held at Purl Bar next month to raise money for motor neurone disease research.
The MacNish family have raised more than $20,000 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association of Western Australia (MNDAWA) and plan to climb Mt Kilimanjaro in October to raise awareness and additional funds.
The team of nine are no strangers to adventure, but saw the climb as a great challenge for a great cause.
Jason MacNish first got involved with fundraising 10 years ago after his mother was diagnosed with the disease.
He said the mountain would be a challenge, but it was nothing compared to what his mother went through every day.
“We are constantly looking for ways to show our appreciation to MNDAWA for their unwavering support and assistance they have provided to mum and our family,” he said.
“This event will be a great fun way to fundraise and we urge people to support us, through coming to the event, donating auction items, donate to our climbers or even join us on the climb.”
The team of climbers are self-funding their trip, with all donations directly to the MNDAWA.
In a final fundraising push, the climbers are holding a cocktail event called the Glammed up Pig and Pizza night at Purl Bar, with food, drink and entertainment.
The Glammed Up Pig and Pizza night will be held on August 5. Tickets are $150.
