Wests sweep to big victory
PERTH-Bayswater was defeated 697 at the hands of Palmyra in the 2016 Pindan Premier Grade competition fixture on the weekend, while Wests Scarborough clinched the minor premiership.
Wests Scarborough had a dominant 76-19 victory over Associates at the “Pig Pen”, Bennett Park on the weekend.
The damage was done in the opening half with Wests Scarborough running in seven tries in the opening 40 minutes before flexing their muscle in the second half to run away with a 57-point victory.
Wests Scarborough head coach Dwayne Grace said he was impressed with his side’s effort in the match and proud of what his team had achieved so far this season.
The home side got on the board early, earning a penalty and scrumhalf Angus Taylor put Wests Scarborough up 3-0 after just a minute of play.
Dominating possession and territory, Wests looked to stamp their authority on the match and began hammering the Associates’ defensive line before prop Nick McLennan barged his way over the line. Taylor converted to extend the lead to 10 points.
The home side began the second half as they finished the first, going straight back on the attack, with a brilliant piece of play ending with Cody Coe Baker going over in the corner.
Associates showed some fight to go over for their second try of the match after spending five minutes camped in Wests’ 22 but it was quickly answered, as McLennan went over for his second of the afternoon.
In other games, Nedlands defeated UWA 67-19 and Cottesloe beat Joondalup 27-23.
