Premier promises quadriplegic centre

Western Suburbs Weekly - - News -

A RE-ELECTED Liberal State Government promises to build a new $30m-$40m quadriplegic centre at Shenton Park in 2018, Premier Colin Barnett said at his party State Conference on Sunday.

The announcement follows controversy last year about the rub-down and inadequate facilities at the exisiting centre.

The cost of the new centre would be recovered by sale of some land at the present site, which has 48 residents and a capacity of up to 72. The new plan has 30 beds, but 12 homes would be built so those with paraplegia could live in the community.

A Paralympic gold medal.
