Market in limbo

Western Suburbs Weekly - - News -

GROWERS Lane food market is awaiting a decision on whether it will be able to open at Home Base in Subiaco after being knocked back by the City of Subiaco twice.

Proponents of the market Diep Tran and Home Base general manager Gino Premici underwent a three-day trial with the State Administrative Tribunal last week, hoping to fight the decision by the council.

Councillors were given the opportunity by the SAT in June to reconsider an application for the market, but voted against the application 64, despite large community support.

Ms Tran said she did not understand why the council did not approve the application at the June council meeting.

“I am positive SAT will approve this. We’ve gone out of our way and satisfied all of the criteria and the reports and council offices have recommended that it be approved,” she said.
