Beach Club accolade
CABLE Beach Club Resort and Spa was named WA’s Best Resort Style Accommodation Hotel recently, following a major upgrade to its accommodation.
The Broome resort received the accolade at the AHA Accommodation Awards for Excellence last month.
In May this year, Hawaiian, which bought the resort in 2000, finished renovating 177 studio rooms, spending more than $7 million.
Hawaiian hospitality general manager Ron Sedon said 25 per- cent of Cable Beach Resort’s guests were return visitors, so it was important to give them a “bigger and better” experience each time.
“The studio rooms have new bathrooms and a complete décor change but it’s still sympathetic to the pearling style of the resort,” Mr Sedon said.
Hawaiian chief executive Russell Gibbs said the investment was consistent with how the company approached its assets.
“As a group, a big driver is connecting people with places,’ Mr Gibbs said. “You come up here (to Broome) to connect with family, friends and yourself.”
Cable Beach Resort’s gym is set for the next upgrade, with plans to double its size and add more equipment.
Mr Sedon said the resort was also placing more importance on wellness, with a focus on yoga and thai chi at the Buddha Sanctuary.
