Flower power to replace horsepower
DAVID Reed, of Cottesloe, drives his grandchildren around in a 1928 Chevrolet ute but the ute will soon be filled with flowers instead.
The ute is on loan to the Perth Royal Show and will be a feature of the Perth Royal Flower Show.
In 1975, Rotarian David was collecting bikes in Kalgoorlie for a Rotary project when he noticed a ute in the shed next door that took his fancy.
When Reed bought the ute for $1000 (now worth around $25000), although it cost quite a bit to do up, he had it restored.
