WACA CEO takes dig at AFL
WACA chief executive Christina Matthews celebrated wins in cricket ahead of the 2016-17 season at a breakfast launch on Wednesday.
Matthews congratulated Western Warriors player Michael Klinger for completing his MBA, welcomed Pippa Cleary back after “serving a suspension for a small mistake” (she was done for illegal betting) and celebrated Mathilda Carmichael’s transition from hockey to cricket. She also had a playful dig at the AFL. “The AFL is going after any girl who’s ever played sport,” she said.
Matthews said it took cricket nine months to secure a deal with the new Perth Stadium and the AFL three years.
“Mia (Davies), tell them we can help,” she said.
