Man faces drug, theft charges

CASH, thought to be coun­ter­feit, was found with a man sus­pected of steal­ing a car from the Perth Royal Show in Clare­mont about 4.50pm last Wed­nes­day.

“A wo­man at the show re­ported her car keys had been stolen, so we sent out a pa­trol,” Se­nior Sergeant Tony Booker said.

Po­lice say that a man un­known to the wo­man was sit­ting with the keys in the car, which had false num­ber plates, on Sec­ond Av­enue, Clare­mont.

“It will be al­leged a search of the car also lo­cated cannabis and coun­ter­feit Aus­tralian cur­rency of one $100 note and a $50 note,” Sgt Booker said.

The man, of no fixed ad­dress, was charged with car theft, pos­ses­sion of coun­ter­feit money and cannabis, breach of bail and giv­ing false name, be­fore he was re­fused bail and re­manded to ap­pear in court at a later date.
