OP­ER­A­TION Beaches 2016 is covering beach carparks in the western sub­urbs and west of the CBD af­ter many thefts from ve­hi­cles re­cently. We will com­bat the theft of valu­ables from ve­hi­cles. This fol­lows the re­cent theft of valu­ables from nine cars in Bold Park, two in Rochdale Road, Mt Clare­mont, at City Beach, and one in Swan­bourne, all be­tween 6.30am and 7.30am on Septem­ber 26. All beach users must re­move valu­ables from their cars, and re­port any sus­pi­cious ac­tiv­ity, car reg­is­tra­tions and times of any in­ci­dents so we can map any ve­hi­cle that the thieves may be us­ing. - Se­nior Sergeant Ca­role Ver­non


PO­LICE are seek­ing a white Toy­ota RAV4, reg­is­tra­tion 1DYU 405, sus­pected to be linked to thefts from cars in City Beach, Swan­bourne, Bold Park and Mt Clare­mont on Septem­ber 26. Se­nior Sergeant Ca­role Ver­non said the car was also sus­pected to be linked to in­ci­dents across Perth, in­clud­ing in River­vale, Red­cliffe, Burswood and Wat­tle Grove. In the western sub­urbs, the thefts in­cluded lap­tops, iPads, watches, bags, hand­bags and other valu­ables.


A WEM­B­LEY man (29) al­legedly had parts for a 9mm hand­gun and a home­made .22 weapon in his Cam­bridge Street apart­ment when it was raided by po­lice on Septem­ber 27. “It will be al­leged the hand­gun was in parts scat­tered around the house,” Se­nior Sergeant Paul Gelmi said. The apart­ment was iden­ti­fied when a pa­trol saw three sus­pi­cious peo­ple in the area five days ear­lier. The man faces mul­ti­ple firearms charges af­ter he was re­leased on bail to reap­pear in court on Oc­to­ber 12, and a wo­man (25) at the apart­ment was served a cannabis in­fringe­ment no­tice. N EDLANDS THIEVES broke into four cars in a se­cure carpark at The Av­enue overnight on Septem­ber 28. Se­nior Sergeant Paul Gelmi said holes were smashed in sev­eral of the cars’ win­dows. The thieves’ haul in­cluded $1000 worth of sun­glasses, small amounts of cash and coins, and a wal­let. CCTV from the carpark is being re­viewed by po­lice.


IT is al­leged two women used a pram and dis­tracted staff be­fore tak­ing sun­glasses worth $800 at Sun­glass Hunt in Clare­mont Quar­ter about 2.15pm on Septem­ber 26. One wo­man was de­scribed as in her 20s, of solid build, with dark hair and fair skin, while her al­leged ac­com­plice is known to po­lice and will be in­ter­viewed.
