Small price to pay for safety on roads
IMPORTANT new road safety measures are being introduced in WA in coming weeks that will hopefully deter drink-drivers.
From October 24, repeat drink-drivers will be required to install alcohol interlock devices to their vehicles.
There is no doubt the new laws will be expensive and inconvenient for some.
It is a small price to pay compared with the physical and emotional cost of road trauma.
According to Road Safety Commission figures, one in five fatal crashes in WA involve drink-driving.
Any measures that will help reduce that shocking number should be welcomed. Tony O’Hurley, Motor vehicle accident lawyer, Slater and Gordon.
