WARNING AFTER SPATE OF BIKE THEFTS

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Street Watch -

“We have had a spike in thefts of expensive bikes recently with about 80 in the Perth police sub-district in the past 60 days alone. Thieves use bolt cutters to cut locks, and are even entering underground garages to take the bikes. We suspect they are selling them on secondhand websites such as Gumtree. All bicycle owners should put some type of identification on the bikes, such as a driver’s licence number. If you can, take your bicycle up to your apartment and store it inside. Always use high quality locks wherever you keep or take your bike, because the thieves usually first target poor locks.” - Senior Sergeant Craig Davis
