MORE is always better, according to seventime Red Bull Lighthouse to Leighton kiteboard race organiser Tim Turner (46).

“There are 135 places in this year’s race, up by 25 from 2015, and I’m confident demand will again exceed entry spots available,” the Cottesloe resident said.

This year’s 19km race from Rottnest Island to Leighton Beach at North Fremantle is on December 3, with the following day set aside in case there is no wind.

Mr Turner said the race would feature daredevil entrants on boards with hydrofoils as part of the Hydrofoil Pro Tour Final being held in Perth the previous week.

“There’ll be a number of the world’s best international kite racers in town ready to take on the best in WA,” he said,

Only the wind will decide who can beat the race record of 22.07 set in 2014.
