THE City of Subiaco has approved the draft Subiaco Activity Centre Plan, which hopes to bring a longterm vision to the suburb. Councillors endorsed the plan at last month’s meeting .

The plan, which focuses on density, heritage conservation, movement, public space and land use, has been sent to the WA Planning Commission for approval.

Subiaco chief executive Don Burnett said the plan would guide future development and aid the revitalisation of the town centre.

“The plan has been developed in consultation with the community to create an intense, exciting, liveable and sustainable town centre to meet the needs of a growing population, celebrating what makes Subiaco unique and embracing a bright future for our City,” he said.

“The City received generally positive feedback regarding important aspects of the plan including the vision statement, building heights and heritage provisions that were initially developed during the activity centre visioning process in 2013.

“This plan drives the framework that supports growth and change, with a renewed focus on sustainable urban living, protection of Subiaco’s heritage, transport networks and the creation of innovative public spaces.”
