Claremont joins in Garage SaleTrail
CLAREMONT residents will join people across the country on Saturday as part of the Garage Sale Trail.
Having started in 2010, the initiative, which encourages residents to host and shop at garage sales on one day, has grown from a grassroots event to a program covered by 150 councils nationally. Town of Claremont Mayor Jock Barker said he was pleased to see Claremont embrace the national event, with eight separate garage sales already registered and a few more weeks to go.
“People are using Garage Sale Trail as an opportunity to raise money for travels, clear out their closet and give unwanted goods a new lease on life,” he said.
“Garage Sale Trail is a simple idea that encourages people to consider how things can be reused, while also providing an opportunity to raise money. The idea of passing on what you don’t want to a new home is truly a great form of sustainability.”
The Town will hold its own garage sale, with the Claremont Community Hub and Library selling used books and magazines from 9am to noon. To register, visit garagesaletrail.com.au.
