STUDENTS studying for the OLNA (Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment) in high school can gain the tools they need for the test at Phoenix Academy in Leederville.
The OLNA test is administered in schools for Year 10 students in March and September every year, and includes three components: reading, writing and numeracy.
Students need to pass this test to enter the ATAR stream in Year 11, as well as to receive the WACE at the end of Year 12.
The academy has developed a short course that familiarises students with the demands of this test and prepares them to pass it successfully.
The course covers such key attributes as the ability to read quickly through skimming and scanning strategies and reading for gist and detail.
