Snapper honours seniors’ work
WESTERN Suburbs Weekly photographer Andrew Ritchie has won an Older People Speak Out (OPSO) award for his body of work featuring seniors in the community.
Ritchie took out the ‘Best photo spread, photo series, body of work or gallery of images that depicts older Australians in a positive manner’ in the rural, regional and community category.
He accepted the award in Brisbane last Monday night.
The photographer said seniors were an important part of the community.
“They’re the first ones to put their hands up to volunteer and that’s why they feature so heavily in community newspapers,” Ritchie said.
One of Andrew’s winning entries: Morley Bowling Club coach Ken Perks.
