Traffic motion hits dead end

Western Suburbs Weekly - - News -

TOWN of Cambridge Mayor Keri Shannon’s motion to pass a traffic assessment was blocked by her opponents.

Ms Shannon submitted a motion at the October 25 meeting that the Town commission a traffic study for the traffic flow from east of Jersey street, Wembley through West Leederville to the city and on to the freeway.

The exercise was to provide an analysis of changes in flow with reference to previous traffic studies and provide recommendations about traffic movements in the area.

Councillor Corinne MacRae questioned the relevance of the proposed study and asked for supporting data.

Cr Andres Timmermanis supported the study and said it was “befuddling” that a councillor asked for data before seeking a traffic study.

Ms Shannon said she thought it was important to get the data while the Town worked on its five-year bike plan.

The motion was lost.
