Major role for young musician

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Street Watch -

PRESBYTERIAN Ladies’ College Year 11 student Amelia Crossing has been elected pipe major for 2017 by her peers and school staff.

The 16-year-old City Beach resident will lead the school in about 50 events during her time in the role.

Amelia said she started playing the bag pipes about four years ago because she liked the look of the outfits.

She is studying music as a WACE subject and said she practised the bagpipes every day.

She said the bagpipes were quite loud but she hoped to continue playing the instrument.

Amelia was at the Centenary Trust for Women Luncheon at Winthrop Hall last month, where she led Governor Kerry Sanderson in to the event.
