Student’s Journey wins best film prize
PERTH Modern School student Radheya Jegatheva has beaten an Academy Awardwinning director to win the Overall Best Film prize at the Port Shorts Film festival in Queensland.
The 17-year-old’s film Journey was described as “polished” and “high quality” by judges.
Radheya, who based his film on a story he wrote in 2014, was against Walt Disney Animation Studios director Patrick Osborne from the US.
Judges included Australian actor Stephen Curry, Wolf Creek and Rogue executive producer Matt Hearn and Australian Film Industry Awards-nominated screenwriter Kier Shorey (Blurred).
Radheya was unable to attend the festival because of Year 12 WACE exams but
