Help wishes come true

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Your Guide To Christmas -

ANGLICARE WA has launched its Become a Wish Giver campaign, with hopes to brighten this Christmas for those in need.

The charity is seeking monetary or gift donations, with a Giving Box now placed at Claremont Quarter, Noranda Shopping Village, Hawaiian’s Mezz, and Hawaiian’s Bassendean, where people can drop off gifts.

Anglicare WA chief executive Ian Carter said the festive season magnified the hardships people faced.

“Simple things outside our control such as job loss or financial hardship can suddenly make Christmas an incredibly difficult time,” he said.

“We need to recognise that there is still significant disadvantage in our community.

“Post mining boom, WA has come back to a stark reality that life isn’t what it used to be and this is very harsh for many families and individuals.”

He said the organisation offered access to financial counsellors and emergency relief.
