South Perth post strong open­ing score

SU­BI­ACO Floreat skip­per Chris Hans­berry took five wick­ets but could not prevent South Perth from post­ing a strong score on day one of their Premier Cricket clash on Satur­day.

South Perth fin­ished the day at 9-273 at Floreat Park Oval, with Brooke Guest top-scor­ing with 97.

Hans­berry ripped through the Sky Blues mid­dle or­der, re­duc­ing them to 8-217 but some late hit­ting helped the vis­i­tors to set Subi an awk­ward tar­get this Satur­day.

An­drew Holder chipped in with an­other two wick­ets for the fi­nals hope­fuls.

Else­where, English­man Harry Pod­more took four wick­ets as Univer­sity en­joyed a strong day against Melville de­spite Adam Vo­ges’ cen­tury at James Oval.

The strug­gling Students bowled out Melville for 187 be­fore fin­ish­ing the day at 0-17 from six overs.

Uni, with­out skip­per Will Bo­sisto, did well with Pod­more fin­ish­ing with 4-47 while Tim Young and Ash­ton Agar claimed two wick­ets apiece.

Lad­der lead­ers Clare­mon­tNed­lands claimed first in­nings points on the first day against Gos­nells at Cress­well Park.

Jack Cat­trall took 3-15 as the Tigers rolled the Hawks for 106 inside 54 overs be­fore fin­ish­ing the day at 2-140.

Nick Hob­son (70 n.o.) and Tim David (48 n.o.) were un­beaten at the crease as the Tigers search for an out­right win this Satur­day.
