The team won the title in a nail-biting final against St Mary’s Anglican School for Girls.

The college has won five out of 11 overall sports on offer in the Independents Girls’ School Sporting Association this year and placed runner-up in three.

PLC principal Kate Hadwen thanked the students, staff and family for their support.

“On top of another incredible Head of River rowing success and our 30-year drought-breaking IGSSA Cross Country Championship, 2016 has been a remarkable year for PLC on the sporting front,” she said.

PLC sports captain Matilda Morfesse said it was a great achievement for the school.

“There are so many people to thank for this achievement. Thank you to the arts, music drama and dance departments who have sacrificed their time for us, thank you to the coaches and umpires who dedicated their time to us, and thank you to the parents,” she said.

“A winner makes the most out of every loss, and by doing so turns those losses into wins, and we have certainly done that over the last three years.”
