COTTESLOE councillors approved the installation of 15m floodlights, which will cost Cottesloe Amateur Football Club $40,000, at Cottesloe Oval at their December meeting. “At times it has been an unsafe oval; there have been accidents and improvements are essential,” Cr Helen Bourke said. The WA Planning Commission will have the final say on the lights, which the club applied for. It will be told the council received no comments from neighbours or the State Heritage Council on the proposal. It is proposed the lights will be on the east side of the oval, with their beams facing west and operating January to September, 5pm-8pm during training on Mondays, Wednesdays and some Fridays.
