Pelican crossing for Curtin Ave

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Western Opinion -

BEACHGOERS, train users and the annual summer flood of teenagers from across Perth will get a controlled pelican crossing from Cottesloe train station across dangerous Curtin Avenue to Forrest Street and Cottesloe Beach.

“This is a good for the town and the result of our staff’s close liaison with Main Roads,” Mayor Jo Dawkins said.

A pelican crossing is a pedestrian crossing with traffic lights operated by pedestrians.

The council has been talking to Main Roads WA, Cottesloe MLA Colin Barnett and the Department of Transport since December last year after residents’ requests and a petition calling for a crossing.

A pelican crossing will help stop this kind of close shave.
