Hollywood doctors get act together forYouth Focus ride
HOLLYWOOD Hospital doctors will ride more than 700km from Albany to Perth in this year’s Hawaiian Ride for Youth.
The team comprises urologists Andrew Tan and Tom Shannon, orthopaedic surgeons Clem McCormick and Ryan Lisle and anaesthetist Steven Myles.
Hollywood Private Hospital chief executive Peter Mott will participate in the CEO Challenge.
“Most of us have at some stage either been directly or indirectly impacted by mental health,” Mr Mott said.
“As parents, many of us are aware of the growing incidence of youth suicide, depression and self-harm.”
On their four-and-a-half day journey the Hollywood riders, along with approximately 200 other riders, will stop at high schools to engage students in the issues of youth suicide, depression and self-harm and the services that Youth Focus provides.
Youth Focus is an independent not-for-profit organisation that supports vulnerable young people in WA by offering a range of mental health services.
The Hollywood team is holding a fund raising event, Champagne Sunsets, on Saturday, February 11 from 7-11pm at the new City of Perth Surf LifeSaving Club.
Mr Mott said the event would include French champagne, premium beers and wine, an oyster shucker and food by Ultimo Catering.
The Perth Symphony Orchestra quartet will entertain the crowd and there will also be an auction.
Tickets are $150 with all proceeds raised going to Youth Focus. Visit www.rideforyouth. com.au for information.
