Hol­ly­wood doc­tors get act to­gether forYouth Fo­cus ride

HOL­LY­WOOD Hos­pi­tal doc­tors will ride more than 700km from Albany to Perth in this year’s Hawai­ian Ride for Youth.

The team com­prises urol­o­gists An­drew Tan and Tom Shan­non, or­thopaedic sur­geons Clem McCormick and Ryan Lisle and anaes­thetist Steven Myles.

Hol­ly­wood Pri­vate Hos­pi­tal chief ex­ec­u­tive Peter Mott will par­tic­i­pate in the CEO Chal­lenge.

“Most of us have at some stage ei­ther been di­rectly or in­di­rectly im­pacted by men­tal health,” Mr Mott said.

“As parents, many of us are aware of the grow­ing in­ci­dence of youth sui­cide, de­pres­sion and self-harm.”

On their four-and-a-half day jour­ney the Hol­ly­wood rid­ers, along with ap­prox­i­mately 200 other rid­ers, will stop at high schools to en­gage stu­dents in the is­sues of youth sui­cide, de­pres­sion and self-harm and the ser­vices that Youth Fo­cus provides.

Youth Fo­cus is an in­de­pen­dent not-for-profit or­gan­i­sa­tion that sup­ports vul­ner­a­ble young peo­ple in WA by of­fer­ing a range of men­tal health ser­vices.

The Hol­ly­wood team is hold­ing a fund rais­ing event, Cham­pagne Sun­sets, on Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 11 from 7-11pm at the new City of Perth Surf Life­Sav­ing Club.

Mr Mott said the event would in­clude French cham­pagne, pre­mium beers and wine, an oys­ter shucker and food by Ul­timo Cater­ing.

The Perth Sym­phony Or­ches­tra quar­tet will en­ter­tain the crowd and there will also be an auc­tion.
