New fa­cil­ity ‘ex­ceeds ex­pec­ta­tions’

THE City of Ned­lands has cel­e­brated the of­fi­cial open­ing of the $1.2 mil­lion multi-func­tion Allen Park Lower Pav­il­ion in Swan­bourne.

The re­fur­bished fa­cil­ity was jointly funded, with the City con­tribut­ing $910,00, $190,000 com­ing from the Depart­ment of Sport and Recre­ation’s Com­mu­nity Sport­ing and Recre­ation Fa­cil­i­ties fund and $100,000 raised by the Swan­bourne Tigers Ju­nior Foot­ball Club and Swan­bourne Cricket Club.

Ned­lands Mayor Max Hip­kins said the Coun­cil was happy with the newly re­fur­bished fa­cil­ity.

“The Coun­cil is proud to see the new re­fur­bished build­ing has been achieved with great co­op­er­a­tion from Coun­cil of­fi­cers, long term tenants, the Swan­bourne Tigers Ju­nior Foot­ball Club and Swan­bourne Cricket Club and the Depart­ment of Sport and Recre­ation,” he said.

“The project was com­pleted on time and on bud­get, and has ex­ceeded ex­pec­ta­tions.”

The up­grade in­cluded the con­struc­tion of new change rooms and um­pires room, con­struc­tion of a univer­sal ac­cess toi­let and shower fa­cil­ity, a new kitchen with a kiosk fa­cil­ity, new roof, ad­di­tional stor­age, a re­fur­bished hall and a cov­ered out­door area.
