RESIDENTS who live around schools are being encouraged to keep an eye out for thieves and vandals, because there is an increase in schools being targeted by thieves around the school holidays. We are asking residents to be on the lookout for suspicious people on or around school property, especially if they hear any banging or glass breaking. We often see schools being targeted over this period, so it is important for the community to be our eyes and ears on the street. We often see young people getting in trouble during the holidays by keeping bad company and this can result in them coming to the attention of police. If you are the parent of a young person, speak to them about the consequences of the choices they make and how the company they keep can affect those choices. Giving them boundaries regarding where and what times they can be out also prevents young people from getting into situations that may affect their future. - Sergeant Paul Trimble
