GLENN Evans has taken over the B Shed cafe to complement The Lane on Rottnest Island.

The new Rottnest Island Chamber of Commerce chairman opened The Lane and Simmo’s Ice Cream four years ago and now has Express Lane at B Shed.

“Through our relationship on the island we were approached by Rottnest Express, (which) owns B Shed, to invigorate the café,” Mr Evans, of North Fremantle, said.

“We’re looking to replicate the good quality coffee and fresh wholesome food we have on the Island. This is a nice next step for us.”

Express Lane offerings include gourmet hotdogs and organic and gluten free food, and there are plans to introduce Simmo’s Ice Cream in the mainland cafe.

Mr Evans said having a business on Rottnest was not easy but he was proud of the quality provided at the cafe.

“It’s a long hard road doing business on the island but we’ve done a good job there,” he said.
