A 22-year-old Beechboro man allegedly assaulted a police officer at the Origin dance music concert at Claremont Showground on New Year’s Eve. Senior Sergeant Julie Foley said the man would appear in Perth Magistrates Court on January 20. Police will allege another man tried to enter the concert by jumping a fence, before he was charged with trespass, and three concert-goers failed to follow move-on orders. Disorderly conduct notices were issued to four concert-goers, one cannabis intervention notice was handed out and one concert-goer was charged with disorderly conduct.
FEMALE thieves attempted to take the mobile phone of a 12-year-old Mt Claremont girl at the Claremont Quarter shopping centre about 4.50pm on January 1. “They ran off, after asking to ‘borrow’ it, but the girl snatched it back,” Sgt Foley said. One thief was described as aged 18-20, short, with an English accent, black hair and a fair complexion, while her female accomplice had black hair with blonde roots tied in a bun. Police will review CCTV from the shopping centre.
A THIEF has taken a man’s electric bicycle worth $2300. The bike’s owner reported it had been taken from outside his Stirling Highway home between 9am and 11.40am on January 4. Sgt Foley said it appeared the bike’s security chain had been cut.
