BUR­GLARS took two safes in sep­a­rate in­ci­dents at a shop at Mos­man Park shop­ping cen­tre, Mon­u­ment Street, and the Men’s Shed in McCabe Street.

Se­nior Sergeant Julie Fo­ley said the shop’s safe con­tained tak­ings when it was stolen af­ter thieves en­tered through a front door overnight on Jan­uary 10.

The Men’s Shed’s safe, with cash de­scribed by po­lice as “not sig­nif­i­cant”, was taken af­ter en­try was gained by un­known means overnight on Jan­uary 8.

IPHONES and an iPad were taken dur­ing the bur­glary of an Edith Street home overnight on Jan­uary 10.

Sgt Fo­ley said track­ing ap­pli­ca­tions in the de­vices en­abled them to be found nearby in Wellington Street later.

The de­vices’ own­ers were at home dur­ing the thefts by the bur­glars, who used a door to en­ter the house. same area and same time of mid­morn­ing to mid-af­ter­noon,” Sgt Fo­ley said.

A dig­i­tal cam­era, cash and jew­ellery were among the items taken from one of the bur­glar­ies on Dalkeith Road and one on Smythe Road.

Noth­ing was taken from the two other Dalkeith Road bur­glar­ies.
