City move inspires

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Health - By JULIAN WRIGHT

ABOUT 12 months of artist Garry Hyde’s work has been unveiled in Maylands.

The Wembley resident’s exhibition Urban Impact, featuring 17 pieces of abstract art inspired by his move from Esperance to Perth about a decade ago, can now be viewed at Ferguson Foundry Gallery-Studio281.

“I moved more than 10 years ago, but my work has been influenced by what has been going on around me,” he said.

“I painted many years ago, but stopped for a long period.

“Life moves on and you do different things, but I took it up again about 10 years ago.

“Now I paint almost full-time, almost every day; it was like getting back on a bike.”

Urban Impact is Garry Hyde’s fifth solo exhibition.
