You’ll feel right at home

Warm and cosy. By NATALIE HORDOV

THIS home has a very warm and welcoming feel.

You could enjoy a glass of wine on the front porch or pull up a chair for a cosy chat by the fireplace.

The owner has lived there for 22 years, renovating the postwar home while retaining the delightful old-world features that appealed when he bought it.

“It was a typical two-bedroom home with sleepout when we purchased it,” he said.

“We added an extra bedroom, modern kitchen and large decked area, giving the property lots of light and an airy feeling.”

The home has timber flooring in the living areas, with high ornate ceilings and picture rails in the formal lounge and dining room. The newer, open-plan family area includes the stylish kitchen with reconstituted stone benchtops and breakfast bar.

Outside, there is a lovely entertaining area with timber decking and a spa where you can sit and watch the sun set over the trees.

When he purchased the home, the owner liked its proximity to Lake Monger, Leederville and Subiaco, plus the beach, city and freeway. Over the years, he and his family have also enjoyed its sense of community.

“Our child grew up playing with all the children in the street,” he said.

“There is a Christmas street party and New Year's Eve we spent with friends from the street and then walked up to the lake to watch the fireworks.” ■
