CLAREMONT-NEDLANDS bowled out South Perth for just 69 as they qualified for the final of the One Day League, with a strong display in the semi-final at Cresswell Park on Sunday.

The Tigers will meet Fremantle in the final at the WACA Ground on Sunday, March 5, while Saturday’s win over Willetton has them a step closer to the Premier Cricket minor premiership.

Daniel Turkich (3-9) and Matt Kelly (2-10) were the stars with the ball as South Perth crumbled. Nicholas Mitchell (17) top-scored for South Perth.

In reply, Alex Bevilaqua (4-37) had the Tigers nervous with two early strikes reducing them to 22 but Tim David (27) steadied despite losing five wickets, achieving the target in 16.5 overs.

On Saturday, a stunning unbeaten double-century from Travis Birt guided Claremontnedlands to another victory.

Chasing 241, the Tigers never looked in danger with Birt and Whiteaker (47) combining for a 123-run opening stand.

From there Birt stole the show belting 17 boundaries and seven sixes in his 227-ball knock of 200 not out, with Chris Brabazon (31) and Matt Kelly (28) chiming in late.

Subiaco Floreat pulled off a stunning victory over Midlandguildford at Lilac Hill to move within one point of the top six with a couple of rounds to play.

Chasing 259, Alex Malcolm led the way with 130 at the top of the order, with the opener finding some much-needed form.

Aaron Lilly continued the onslaught with a powerful 113 from 118 balls to bring his side to the brink of victory.

Jason Behrendorff (38) and Andrew Holder (27 not out) finished the game off in style as the visitors recorded 8-387.

Because of the wet and wild weather, University’s match against Joondalup at Iluka Sports Complex had to be abandoned without a ball being bowled on Saturday.
