Epicentre for food lovers delivers

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Food - with Belinda Cipriano

DESCRIBED as a remarkable journey of the senses, Epicurean certainly lives up to its name.

Epicurean is a sophisticated open kitchen dining experience with all the bells and whistles.

Seafood - tick, antipasto tick, western cuisine - tick, amazing dessert station featuring one of the world’s biggest chocolate fountains tick.

Looking to be transported to India and Asia?

You can enjoy those cuisines too, all under the one roof that is the Crown Towers Perth newest restaurant.

When I visited on a Saturday for lunch, the restaurant was jam-packed with diners looking to enjoy the Epicurean experience.

Overlooking the resort’s pool area, I was distracted by the dessert station, which rivalled something out Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Sweet treats as far as the eye could see lined the square station that features the showstopping chocolate fountain.

Despite not having a sweet tooth, I made sure I didn’t stuff myself silly so that I could enjoy this wonderment.

To start with I began with my favourite style of eating the grazing antipasto station.

Delicious cold cuts, breads, cheeses, salads and a seafood section - I filled my plate with all the good stuff and went back for seconds.

Moving on to the hot food, the carnivore in me headed straight to the house-smoked brisket and pastrami to feed my meaty cravings and holy moly it was good.

I’ve had pastrami before and to be honest it’s been meh, but this one was lightly smokey, perfectly fatty, super tender and melted in my mouth.

The seafood fregola (small balls of pasta) was just as delightful.

Fresh seafood in a tomato sugo was just as if “mama” would have made it.

Promising to come back to try the Indian curries and naan bread, I rested and awaited my turn at the dessert buffet.

Pouncing on the miniature treats like a kid in a candy store, I stocked my plate up with lemon meringue, panna cotta, red velvet cupcakes and freshly made chocolates and demolished them in an instant.

And while I was bursting at the seams, I could not let my first Epicurean experience go by without feasting from the chocolate fountain.

Devouring pieces of handcut fruit in a pool of chocolate made me giddy with delight and calories don’t count if there’s fruit involved, right?

I’ll just keep telling myself that until my next visit.
