PLAYED in 36-degree heat, round 12 of the WA State Tennis League was completed with many players sapped by the oppressive weather.

In the men’s, Cottesloe hosted Mt Lawley with number one Joel Pleydell beating Alex Downey.

Andrew Roberts returned to take on state coach Rhys Mcdougall who was too wily on grass, taking the first set 6-2.

Roberts seemed to be still on Ukraine time where he had been hitting with the Australian Fed Cup team last week, but settled and won the next two 6-1 6-3.

Cottesloe won all four singles to consolidate their third spot with two rounds to go.

Peppermint Grove league-leaders Kings Park.

Early resistance was shown from Peppermint Grove coach Troy Hargreaves, who toppled Kings Park’s number one Jake Robinson 6-2 7-6.

An injury to Chris Moore took Peppermint Grove out of any serious challenge, with Kings Park’s remaining players winning their singles matches, giving them a resounding 5-1 win.

In the women’s league, Cottesloe couldn’t hold on despite Fed Cup captain Alicia Molik winning 6-1 6-2 against North Beach’s Maddy Watson and Tara Gillich beating Tsige Lacey. hosted
