Locks lopped to raise cancer funds fight

Western Suburbs Weekly - - News -

IT WAS a case of hair today gone tomorrow for Abel Mcgrath – The Property People Leederville senior property manager Sharon Christou.

She recently cut off her lovely locks for The Worlds’ Greatest Shave to help beat blood cancer.

“Too many friends were telling me about their family members’ experiences with cancer and I wanted to do what I could to help,” Mrs Christou said. “I feel like you don’t hear a lot about blood cancer, although it is the third most common cause of cancer death in Australia and claims more lives than breast cancer or melanoma.

“I had a lot of hair and thought I could generate some support through cutting it off.”

Mrs Christou said she had great support from her colleagues at Abel Mcgrath, with the entire team coming to watch the big event. “My daughter and best friend were also in the office, and my family watched it live on facebook,” she said. “i’d like to thank Adam from The Oxford Street Barbers who donated his time to cut my hair.”

Mrs Christou has raised over $2600 of her $5000 goal.

Tax-deductible donations can still be made at my.leukaemiafoundation.org.au/sharonchristou. ■
