HIGHLY successful Rsl-organised Anzac sunset services will be held for a fourth year at the Flame of Remembrance in Kings Park for five days before Anzac Day.

“Services are held over five evenings and will focus on a different theme each evening, with the program including a wreath laying ceremony,” RSLWA president Peter Aspinall said.

The theme for night one remembers the first Royal Air Force 1000-bomber raid on Cologne, Germany against Nazi Germany in World War II.

The following service remembers the war’s Battle of El Alamein in Egypt and the Kokoda Trail Campaign fought by Australian militia against the Japanese in Papua New Guinea in 1942.

On April 22, the service will be about the sinking of HMAS Perth and the USS Houston in Sunda Strait near Indonesia in 1942.

The 75th anniversary of the massacre of Australian nurses from the transport ship Vyner Brooke near Indonesia will be remembered on April 23.

The April 24 service before Anzac Day will centre on the centenaries of the battles of Bullecourt, Lagincourt and Third Battle of Passchendaele in France in World War I.
