Landscape art prize open
WA’S art competition for landscapes, the $20,000 Perth Royal Art Prize, was launched at the Royal Agricultural Society at Claremont Showground last month.
The prize was established to raise the profile of the 1974-created Perth Royal Art Show held at the Wilkinson Gallery at the Perth Royal Show each year.
RASWA art curator Sandra Murray said all landscape views were eligible, but entries had to be two-dimensional, fit a competition size and be by WA residents.
She said the landscapes could be real or imagined, rural or urban and a high calibre of entries were anticipated.
The winner of the $20,000 first prize will be able to sell their work and there will be two highly commended entries, who will each receive $1500.
The pool includes a $1500 art transport voucher and a $500 people’s choice award.
Entries close on July 28 and winners will be announced on September 18.
The show will be held from September 19 to 30.
