Scare for PLC teen
POLICE are investigating a report a teenage Presbyterian Ladies’ College (PLC) student was followed by a man from near the school on to a train in Cottesloe about 3.25pm on April 27.
“The male in his late 30s then followed the student up and down the train and asked her how old she was, and then asked her out for a coffee,” Sergeant Paul Gelmi said.
The man, who was unknown to the student, left the 16-year-old girl alone, but the distress of his approach caused her to cry.
The Peppermint Grove school issued a statement to parents the same afternoon reporting the incident and reminding parents to discuss personal safety with their children.
The student’s mother reported the incident and police attended.
Officers have a partial image of the man wearing a blue shirt, black jeans, a hat and sunglasses.
Sgt Gelmi said inquiries were continuing and patrols conducted in the area. CCTV footage had been requested from the Perth Transit Authority.
