Scare for PLC teen

PO­LICE are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a re­port a teenage Pres­by­te­rian Ladies’ Col­lege (PLC) stu­dent was fol­lowed by a man from near the school on to a train in Cottes­loe about 3.25pm on April 27.

“The male in his late 30s then fol­lowed the stu­dent up and down the train and asked her how old she was, and then asked her out for a cof­fee,” Sergeant Paul Gelmi said.

The man, who was un­known to the stu­dent, left the 16-year-old girl alone, but the distress of his ap­proach caused her to cry.

The Pep­per­mint Grove school is­sued a state­ment to par­ents the same af­ter­noon re­port­ing the in­ci­dent and re­mind­ing par­ents to dis­cuss per­sonal safety with their chil­dren.

The stu­dent’s mother re­ported the in­ci­dent and po­lice at­tended.

Of­fi­cers have a par­tial im­age of the man wear­ing a blue shirt, black jeans, a hat and sun­glasses.

Sgt Gelmi said in­quiries were con­tin­u­ing and pa­trols con­ducted in the area. CCTV footage had been re­quested from the Perth Tran­sit Au­thor­ity.
