Award-winning builder Distinctive Homes WA’S latest project is open for viewing.

Built for director Simon Herbert and his family, the luxury coastal home was inspired by their time in the South-west.

“The idea was to create an upmarket version of the quintessential ‘down south beach house’,” Mr Herbert said.

“Something that could be tailored to suit a suburban location.”

Distinctive Homes WA specialises in high-end renovations and custom builds in the western suburbs, using its skills and knowledge to build a residence that meets the client’s wants and needs. As a result, this four-bedroom, three-bathroom house blends several styles to achieve the desired outcome.

The front facade has a more traditional Hamptons look, while the rear of the home introduces elements of a plantation-style home with high raked ceilings and perimeter fretwork in the alfresco area.

Internally, the home includes more contemporary themes and styles.

The decor and features throughout evoke a relaxed beachy feel with limestone floor tiles, light travertine tiles, whitewashed timber and white walls.

A stone-clad feature chimney catches the eye from the outside, while the same stone has been used to create a feature fireplace in the open-plan living area.

More room has been created with the addition of a loft within the roof space.

Accessed by a cantilevered staircase at the rear of the home, it could be used as an extra living area, kids’ activity room or study, depending on the resident’s needs.

The home, at 19 Cleland Street, Mt Claremont, will be open on Saturday, May 27, and Sunday, May 28, between 2pm and 4pm or by appointment.
