Nominate a local netball inclusion champion
An entire division catering to women and girls with an intellectual disability was established in the Adelaide Metro Netball Division (AMND) over 30 years ago and continues to be a supportive environment for their players to this day. Last year, the association was named one of the winners in the Australia Post One Netball Community Awards for their dedication to creating an inclusive netball environment, with the aim to build confidence both on and off the court. Australian Diamonds player and Australia Post One Netball Ambassador, Caitlin Thwaites, said the awards are a great way to share the stories of those who open their netball club doors, welcome new faces and use the power of sport to help communities work better for everyone.
“We’re on the lookout for passionate inclusion and diversity advocates across the country, both on and off
the court – from coaches and umpires to players, parents and volunteers who work tirelessly to connect people in their local neighbourhood and drive an open and inclusive environment through our great game,” Thwaites said. Nominations for the 2017 Australia Post One Netball Community Awards are now open and close midnight AEST on Sunday, 30 July 2017.
