Support will never be out of fashion
STYLEAID is saying goodbye after raising more than $1.5 million for WA AIDS Council in its 20th and final year.
Styleaid was conceived as an event to be run simultaneously in New York and Los Angeles with the aim of raising much-needed cash to support local HIV/AIDS charities.
The epidemic hit the fashion industry hard, so it developed a highend fundraising gala.
This highly successful concept involved a team of talented hair and makeup artists, along with the current top models represented from local model agencies.
Showcasing the latest fashion ranges and highlighting collections from local labels, Styleaid has developed an incredible reputation and firmly cemented its place as Perth’s number one fashion fundraising event. In its sixth year, Styleaid focused exclusively on talented WA designers and showcasing all that is exciting about WA fashion.
This event has showcased more than 5300 designer garments since its inception in 1997 and with the support, loyalty and unending generosity of the WA fashion industry, the models, the hair stylists, makeup artists and backstage volunteers has ensured that the runway presentation has always provided a much-anticipated event on the WA events calendar. The parades included student designers creating one-off pieces and the presentation of a Creative Designer Award.
It has been the launch pad for some of WA’S amazing models, including Nicole Trunfio, Tom Bull, Gemma Ward, Sophie Ward and Emma Booth, and has featured big names including Aurelio Costarella, Ae’lkemi, Flannel, Morrison, Zhivago and Zsadar.
WA AIDS Council’s Mark Reid said the grand finale of Styleaid was not about thinking they had done enough and they could now rest on their laurels.
“It is about reflecting on all we have done, recognising those who have made such an important contribution to the success of this event and finding new and innovative ways to raise funds for this crucial cause,” Reid said.
