EN­TRIES for the City of Ned­lands 2017 Emerge: Youth Art Awards are now open, with a $2000 prize pool up for grabs.

Now in their fifth year, the awards are open to peo­ple aged 12 to 25 for art­works us­ing print, photography, paint­ing or draw­ing.

The Open Award can be en­tered by any­one across WA, while the Res­i­dent’s Award is for peo­ple liv­ing within the City of Ned­lands.

A Peo­ple’s Choice Award is also given at a free ex­hi­bi­tion show­cas­ing com­pe­ti­tion en­tries.

“They say a pic­ture paints a thou­sand words and the Emerge: Youth Art Awards are a real chance to be cre­ative,” Mayor Max Hip­kins said.

“Ned­lands prides it­self on be­ing in­clu­sive and em­brac­ing this phi­los­o­phy has at­tracted the tal­ents of many artis­tic and cre­ative peo­ple to the area over the years.

“It’s an as­set that should be nur­tured and en­cour­aged to grow nat­u­rally, helped by our strong fa­cil­i­ta­tion role that helps to sup­port and de­velop cre­ative ex­pres­sion.”
