SWANBOURNE actor Tahlia Norrish has received the 2017 Lilian Baylis Award at The Old Vic Theatre in London, presented by acclaimed stage and screen actor David Suchet.

Norrish, who is in her second year at British drama school Rose Bruford College, was selected as one of 11 students for the prize, which included a £1500 ($2500) bursary.

“It was incredibly humbling to receive such recognition, and obviously very inspiring to then spend the day with David and the other winners,” Norrish said.

She said she ultimately wanted to return home and work predominately in Australia.

“I’d love to be able to work between the UK and Australia if I can,” the 22-year-old said. “I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to train and work here, and I can’t deny how rich and alive the industry is.

“But it’s really important to me that I tell Australian stories and do what I can to promote the talent and industry back home.”
