Realmark thrilled with Volunteering WA recognition

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Residential -

it was introduced less than one year ago, Realmark’s True Blue Volunteer program is already achieving recognition and was a finalist for the Volunteering WA Corporate Volunteer of the Year award last month.

The company has always had a strong involvement in the community and charitable work, but the program was launched last July to allow greater focus on giving time back to the community.

Co-ordinator Katy Ling said it was open for participation and involvement from Realmark’s 14 offices.

“We have over 100 people on our priority volunteer contact list,” she said.

“We also encourage participation from family and friends of Realmark staff, along with our contractors and clients, as we feel the bigger the group, the stronger our presence is in the community and the more time we can give.”

The volunteers have been involved in Operation Christmas Child, RSPCA, Patricia Giles Centre, Nulsen Disability Services, Starlight Children’s Foundation and Step up for MSWA.

They will also take part in Ronald Mcdonald House’s Home for Dinner project at the end of the month.

Although they were not awarded, the Realmark team was thrilled to have been recognised by Volunteering WA.

“In the commencement of this program, we became members of Volunteering WA and engaged their support to guide us on this path and to assist us in gaining momentum with our volunteer projects and also provide us with knowledge on how to run a successful volunteer program,” Ms Ling said.

“They encouraged us to nominate for the WA Corporate Volunteer or the Year award and we were excited to be announced as one of three finalists.

“We will definitely be nominating ourselves next year as we believe this program is only in its infancy and we will have a bigger story to tell in 2018.”
